With a sophisticated technology and a unique design, the laser system offered at the Aesthetic & Vein Center MD can safely and effectively treat both the tiny superficial veins (telangiectasia) and the deeper blue veins (reticular veins) of the face and trunk.
HOW DOES VEIN THERAPY WORK?
Our laser system delivers pulses that cause the blood inside the vein to coagulate, eventually destroying the vein, which is later reabsorbed by your body. Blood flow is then redirected to less superficial veins, where it should be.
WHAT TYPES OF VEINS CAN BE TREATED?
We can treat unsightly veins on all parts of the body. Small veins of the face and trunk (or “telangiectasia”) can be treated quickly with a slight risk of bruising. With our YAG 1064 Cutera® laser system, we have also consistently achieved excellent results for larger blue or green veins of the face, particularly around the eyes (reticular veins).
Blood blisters (venous lakes or “hemangiomas”) respond very well to laser therapy, usually with just one treatment.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS DO I NEED?
Usually, one or two treatments are needed; however, the number of sessions depends on the number and size of the veins being treated. Since individual results vary, Dr. Miller will provide you with information on your specific condition.
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT FROM A VEIN THERAPY TREATMENT?
The procedure itself may result in a mild stinging sensation of the treated area; however, there is little to no pain after it is complete. The area may be slightly red and swollen for up to 24 hours, and some patients experience bruising. Although we recommend avoiding strenuous or vigorous activity for the first 24 hours, patients generally resume most normal activities as soon as they leave the office.
